Dear Bach Lovers,
Funny how things work out…
Over the past 17 years the Bach Consort has performed in many venues in Toronto.
This year proves to be no exception. Due to timing issues at Eglinton St. George’s United
we have had to consider other alternatives to this, our favourite Toronto church. Fortune
has smiled upon us however – not only will we be able to hold our Christmas concert in a
wonderful new (to us) space but we will be partnering with an excellent choir and their
dynamic young conductor.
We invite you to join us, the Bach Consort and Toronto Choral Artists at Church of the
Redeemer (Ave. Rd and Bloor) on December 13 at 8pm. Conductor Mark Vuorinen
will lead the forces in a programme of four Christmas Cantatas that will include part III
of the Christmas Oratorio. The soloists are as follows:
Soprano: Monica Whicher
Mezzo soprano: Noreen Burgess
Tenor: James McClennan
Bass: Peter McGllivray
Also new this year will be our two-tiered ticket assigned seating. You can now book your
spot in advance for either $40 or $50. All proceeds will be going to the Primate’s World
Relief and Development Fund (www. pwrdf.org). Please call 416 769 – 3673. Visa and
Master Card will be accepted.
The Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund is a response by Canadian
Anglicans to the gospel call to bear witness to God's healing love in a broken world.
Inspired by the vision of a spirit-filled community of hope, PWRDF walks together with
partners in Canada and overseas to share in the creation of a more just and peaceful
world. In joy and struggle, The Primate's Fund engages in development work, responds to
emergencies, works to protect refugees and educates and advocates for change.

The Bach Consort, comprised of members of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra,
Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra, choir members and internationally acclaimed Canadian
soloists, performs throughout the year and donates all profits to selected charities. Over
the past 17 years, the musicians have raised over $300,000 for various groups, including
Camphill Village Ontario, Settlement House Music and Arts School, Habitat for
Humanity, Delisle Youth Services, Pia Bouman School for Ballet and Creative
Movement and Eva’s Initiatives.
As the pace of change in our world continues to increase, the need to reflect upon the
values and traditions of the past becomes ever more important. Bach is our window to
serenity – let us take you there.
Cheers,
Tim Dawson
Bach Consort bassist and Head Dreamer
